Albion’s Arctic Ale presents an enticing appearance but could benefit from better head formation. Its aroma is complex yet lacks harmony, a tension mirrored in the distinct but uncohesive flavour. While the pleasant mouthfeel and well-hidden alcohol are positives, it ultimately lacks finesse, leaving a sense of unresolved potential in this otherwise enjoyable sipper.

Presqu’ile | Tête d’Allumette
A smoky campfire in a glass. Tête d’Allumette’s Presqu’île bends barleywine conventions with bold smoked malt and rustic charm. Its crisp mouthfeel contrasts the high ABV, making it intriguing but hard to pin down. A unique brew to explore, though its intensity suggests savoring over sipping.
Boombox | 5e Baron
A bold and flavorful hazy DIPA with fragrant hops and crisp mouthfeel. While packed with character, it’s held back by salty notes, visible sediment, and hints of yeast stress. Good, but with this much competition, it doesn’t stand out.
L’Oeil du Mouton | Tête d’Allumette
This is a good beer. It’s very unique with good balance and drinkability. At the same time, it’s a little bit tricky to dig into and the overall character is missing appeal.
Ursa Major | L’Octant Microbrasserie
This is an interesting one… Ursa Major packs more character than most 8 percenters have any right to have. I love that. At the same time, the beer is rough around the edges and it lacks finesse.
Moinette Brune | Brasserie Dupont
A good beer but I’m sure this is way better at source. It’s impressive how well the beer has help up against time and travel. At the cheap price point, it certainly offers good value.
Old Fashioned de Glace | Beauregard Brasserie
Old Fashioned de Glace is a sledgehammer of sledgehammers. The strength is beyond what most people have experienced drinking beer. In many ways, this is an impressive brew and I think it’s totally worth trying if you can get your hands on a bottle. At the same time, this is very expensive and the value is simply not there for me.
Il Était Une Fois: La Mort | Messorem Bracitorium
Overall, this is a beer worth trying. What it lacks in the mouthfeel is a small part that is easily made up in the flavour. With a few tweaks, this could stand out from the rest. Recommended.
Hadrien DDH | Brasserie du Bas-Canada
Hadrien DDH is a beer worth trying. It starts out incredibly strong with good looks and enticing aroma. It slightly misses the mark on the palate by being unable to match the aromatics while lacking drinkability. Having said that, this is a tasty brew worth picking up when you see it.
#Gatineu Is Trending | Brasserie Bas-Canada
Overall, #Gatineau Is Trending might be a beer worth trying. It doesn’t really offer anything outside of the usual hazy IPAs, but as far as TIPAs go, it does a good job delivering a hefty, juicy, hop-focused beer while keeping the alcohol and sweetness in check.
